India’s men’s badminton team booked a place in the Asian Games semi-finals and guaranteed themselves a medal with a dominant 3-0 victory over hosts Japan in the quarter-finals on Tuesday. The day was highlighted by Lakshya Sen’s insane comeback.

Ayush Shetty delivered a strong performance to defeat world No. 16 Koki Watanabe 21-10, 21-19. Sen produced a dramatic comeback, recovering from a first-game deficit to overcome Kodai Naraoka 11-21, 21-5, 21-19, as that's how the singles players did their job.
On the other hand, the doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty completed the clean sweep with a hard-fought 21-18, 24-22 win over Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi. The victory marks a significant achievement for the Indian side at the 2026 Asian Games, held in Japan.
The result sends India into the last four, where they will face either China or South Korea on Wednesday. The colour of the medal will be decided tomorrow. At the 2023 Asian Games, they bagged a silver medal, and it remains to be seen what comes home this time.
Meanwhile, India has already claimed a gold medal as the Women in Blue defeated Sri Lanka in the rematch of Asia Cup, to defend the Asian Games title. On the other hand, the women's badmintonj side officially exited from the multi-spprt event.
