Double podium finish for India as Himanshu clinches silver, Rudrankksh wins bronze in 10m air rifle post silver in team event

Indian shooters continued their impressive run in Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. After winning a silver medal in the men's 10 air rifle team event alongside teenager Parth Mane, Himanshu Dhillon and Rudrankksh Patil added two more medals to India's tally with a double podium finish. Himanshu won the silver whereas Rudrankksh bagged a bronze to take India's medals tally to six.

Himanshu was just 0.2 shy of the gold medal winner, China's Lihao Sheng who created an Asian Games record with 254.2 points to win gold. Himanshu finished with 252.4 while Rudrankksh managed 230.9 points.

After a double silver medal day, Himanshu credited his gurukul days for bringing discipline into his life. Interestingly, he was a wrestler before taking up shooting. He agrees that the wrestling stint has taught him patience to fight till the last second.

“Yes, my brief stint on the mat did help me fight till the last shot,” Himanshu told PTI.

Rudrankksh and Himanshu were in the fight for the silver medal but the latter prevailed. Himanshu aims to do well in The World Championships later this year and book his place in the Lost Angeles Olympics 2028.

Silver in team event

Earlier in the day, Himanshu, Parth and Rudrankksh won the silver medal with an aggregate of 1890.1 points. China's Sheng, Ma Sihan and Zhang Changhong bagged the gold medal with 1899 points.

Rudrankksh scored the most among three with 631.8 points, followed by Himanshu (631.8 points) and Mane (628.3 points). It also worked as the qualification round for men’s 10m air rifle individual event final. Rudrankksh finished third, Himanshu was seventh and Mane was placed 10th. 

"The competition today was a huge learning experience in terms of pressure. I kept following my process and am happy that I was able to contribute to the team medal,” said Mane

For China, Lihao registered the Asian Games Qualification record with 635.4 points. Sihan finished with 633 points whereas Changhong amassed 630.6 points. Changhong finished inside top eight but couldn’t progress to the individual event as only two shooters from a country can advance to the final.
