India men's and women's skeet shooting teams bag bronze medals at Asian Games 2026

India women's and men's skeet shooting teams bagged bronze medals at the Asian Games 2026 on September 23. But, Raiza Dhillon and Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Anantjeet Singh Naruka could not win a medal in their respective individual events.

After gruelling three days of qualification rounds, Raiza, Maheshwari Chauhan and Parinaaz won the bronze medal with a combined score of 33. China won the gold medal with 357 points whereas Kazakhstan accumulated 336 points to claim silver medal.

The trio of Raiza, Maheshwari and Parinaaz scripted history as India's first ever medallists in women's team skeet event at Asian Games. Raiza and Parinaaz got 111 points each whereas Maheshwari accumulated 109 points.

Raiza missed out on a bronze medal in the individual event with 23 points. Meanwhile, Parinaaz could get just eight points and finished at the bottom.

In the men's skeet shooting competition, Anantjeet, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill registered a combined score of 346 to win the bronze medal. Anantjeet scored the most points (119) followed by Mairaj (116) and Bhavtegh.

Manu Bhaker finishes fifth

Meanwhile, India's double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker missed out on a medal in women's 10m air pistol competition. The 24-year-old says she gave her best but has been facing challenges to train in Japan. An 8.9 shot led to her crashing out in the final, finishing fifth. She also recalled her late coach Jaspal Rana. At 49 years of age, the legendary shooter and coach died due to cardiac issues earlier this year.

"If I remember all those years...it's not that you remember once or twice, it stays with you. When a person has been a big part of your life, it stays," said Bhaker. 

"He was just so adamant on process always -- that you have to be able to, any given day, any given point in your life, whenever you shoot, you have to be able to give your best performance and follow your process," she added.

Shooters continue to shine but no gold

So far, India have accumulated seven medals in the shooting category. However, a gold medal has continued to elude Indian shooters. The only gold for India was bagged by the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian cricket team.
