The New York Mets thrashed New York Yankees on Saturday.

The first game was won by the Mets 8-5.

The second game saw the New York Mets demolish New York Yankees 18-2.

The New York Yankees were looking to take their World Series revenge in Chavez Ravine, but the Los Angeles Dodgers showed them that why they are defending champions. The cherry on the top was they did this on the birthday of manager Dave Roberts. After winning the first game 8-5, the Dodgers completely thrashed Yankees 18-2 to clinch the series.

What did Dave Roberts say after New York Yankees thrashing?

The Los Angeles Dodgers managed to score four and six runs in the first and second inning. They were able to add four more runs in the fifth inning, one in seventh and three in eight. For the New York Yankees, Aaron Judge scored both the runs in the fourth and eighth innings.

Roberts, who recently turned 53 was completely over the moon after what his team achieved on the field. It was like a proper birthday gift for the Los Angeles Dodgers manager.

I think last night what we did offensively, we just took it into today, beat the starter, Roberts said. I thought we did a good job of getting to the fastball, just kind of kept the line moving, just taking really good at-bats — swinging at strikes, taking balls.

It does. It does, Roberts said. You know, the last couple of weeks have certainly been a grind with all the stuff we've been going through. But obviously, when you get the Yankees, and the fans get into it, it just kind of infuses some excitement into the clubhouse. And, you know, guys showed up and gave the fans what they wanted — and it's been a fun series for us.

As the Dodgers got deep in the Yankees' bullpen which will help them in the next encounter as the Yankees might be short on arms available for the series finale on Sunday.

Not just this, Dave Roberts even applauded Dodgers ace Landon Knack, who was able to pitch six strong innings. He only allowed one runs on five hits, three walks, while recording six strikeouts.

Then, you know, Landon getting through six and being able to pitch with the lead was also big to help us reset the pen, Roberts said.

The atmosphere on Saturday at Dodger Stadium was next level as the franchise scored five home runs in an offensive onslaught. The third baseman for the Dodgers, Max Muncy was able to notch a career performance with seven RBI, all thanks to his two home runs. Dalton Rushing, who came on as a pinch hitter homered. Andy Pages and Hye-seong Kim scored two other home runs. Speaking about the atmosphere in the stadium, Dodgers said,

It's contagious. You know, people talk about things like hitting being contagious and losing and all that stuff. There are just guys that want to get up to bat, and the pitcher out there — I'm sure they feel it. It's just that adrenaline, that emotion in the dugout. And the fans were in it from pitch one, so it was kind of like that playoff environment.

With the win, the Los Angeles Dodgers now have a record of 36-22 and the New York Yankees are 35-22.
