Jabari Smith Jr.’s game status receives a key update ahead of the Rockets’ clash with the Spurs.

Houston continues to manage multiple injuries as they prepare for another crucial matchup.

Houston Rockets head into Sunday night’s Western Conference clash against the San Antonio Spurs looking to build on their recent momentum. However, the team’s latest injury report reveals a mixed update regarding several players as Houston prepares for the road matchup.

Rockets currently hold a strong 39–23 record and are coming off a solid victory against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night. While confidence is high following that win, injuries could still impact the rotation heading into the Spurs game.

Jabari Smith Jr. cleared to return

One of the most notable updates involves forward Jabari Smith Jr., who missed Friday’s contest due to a right ankle sprain. Rockets have now removed him from the injury report, confirming that he will be available for Sunday’s game.

Smith’s return provides a timely boost for Houston as they face a competitive Spurs team. The young forward has been an important piece of Houston Rockets’ lineup this season, contributing on both ends of the floor with scoring, rebounding and defensive versatility.

His availability strengthens Houston’s rotation as they look to maintain their push in the Western Conference standings.

Multiple Rockets remain sidelined

Despite Smith’s return, Rockets will still be without several players due to injuries. Veteran wing Jae'Sean Tate has been ruled out as he continues to recover from a right MCL sprain.

Houston will also be missing two more experienced players. Guard Fred VanVleet and center Steven Adams remain unavailable while they work their way back from injuries.

The absences reduce Houston’s depth in both the backcourt and frontcourt, forcing the coaching staff to continue relying on other contributors to carry larger roles in the rotation.

Houston Rockets riding momentum after Trail Blazers win

Houston enters Sunday’s matchup after an impressive team performance against Portland. Rising guard Amen Thompson delivered a standout display with 26 points, seven rebounds and seven assists to lead Rockets to victory.

Center Alperen Sengun also played a crucial role, finishing the game with 28 points and six rebounds.

With Smith returning and several young players stepping up, Houston Rockets will aim to carry that momentum into the upcoming matchup against San Antonio as they continue their push for another win.
