Miami Heat look to continue their strong tradition in the league’s elite shooting showcase.

Miami Heat guard Norman Powell has officially secured his place in the 2026 NBA Three-Point Contest, scheduled for February 14 during All-Star Weekend.

The announcement adds another accolade to a breakthrough season for Powell, who was named an NBA All-Star for the first time in his career.

This will mark Powell’s second consecutive appearance in the league’s premier shooting showcase. He previously competed in the 2025 edition while playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, gaining valuable experience despite falling short of advancing beyond the opening round.

Norman Powell embraces second chance on the big stage

Although his first outing did not result in a trophy, Powell made it clear the moment left a lasting impression. Reflecting on the experience last year, he said,

“It was fun, I definitely enjoyed every minute, every second of it. Just being in the moment and enjoying it. Having a good time.”

Now wearing Miami Heat colors, Norman Powell gets a fresh opportunity to make a deeper run in the contest and potentially add his name to an already decorated Heat legacy in the event.

Heat aim to extend Three-Point Contest dominance

Powell’s inclusion also keeps Miami firmly in the spotlight heading into All-Star Weekend. Heat guard Tyler Herro claimed the 2025 NBA Three-Point Contest title, edging out Atlanta Hawks shooter Buddy Hield with a winning score of 24 out of 40.

A victory by Powell would give Miami Heat back-to-back Three-Point Contest champions, further strengthening the franchise’s reputation as one of the league’s elite shooting hubs.

The Heat already boast the most winners in the history of the event, with Glen Rice, Jason Kapono, Daequan Cook, James Jones, and Herro all having lifted the trophy.

As the 2026 contest approaches, Norman Powell’s return adds intrigue and raises expectations for another strong showing from Miami’s backcourt on one of the NBA’s brightest stages.
