The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a 96-119 loss against the Houston Rockets. Austin Reaves was ruled out following left calf soreness in the second half of the game. The Lakers guard underwent an MRI on his left calf muscle on Friday, and the results are concerning for JJ Redick’s side.

According to a report in ESPN, Reaves will be sidelined for approximately four weeks before the 27-year-old is reevaluated. The player has suffered a Grade 2 gastrocnemius strain, which can be referred to as a pulled calf muscle.

The cause of the injury is due to the tears in the fibres of the main calf muscle. This can happen during any basketball activity, be it running or jumping and more. The Lakers star had earlier missed three games as he suffered a mild calf strain in his left leg.

Reaves had returned from the injury on Tuesday and recorded 17 points in 22 minutes against the Phoenix Suns, off the bench. The American basketball player was the starter in the match against the Rockets but was said to be under restriction before he sustained the injury.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are set to face the Sacramento Kings before they encounter the Detroit Pistons next. Against the Rockets recently, JJ Redick’s side was led by Luka Doncic with 25 points, while LeBron James added 18.
