Chris Paul, who retired last week after a 20-year NBA career, praised the team as the best organisation he played for despite spending just one season there in 2023-24.

His statement has highlighted the team’s renowned culture, as Paul displayed a commemorative plaque from the team, contrasting his longer tenures with franchises like the Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns.

Paul dropped a notable take during his recent appearance on The Tylil Show Live. While giving a house tour and chatting casually, Paul pulled out a custom commemorative plaque the Spurs presented him last season, he said:

"This is dope. The Spurs gave this to me last year. It's so dope 'cause the Spurs gave me this last year, my best organization I played for."

The former NBA player went on to reflect on playing with stars like Blake Griffin, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and, of course, Victor Wembanyama during his one-year stint in San Antonio (2024-25 season).

Paul was only with the Spurs for that single 2024-25 campaign, a rebuilding year that ended with a rough record. Yet he ranks it above the other franchises he has played for longer tenures, including the Clippers.

Paul had two distinct stints with the Clippers, and the contrast between them is stark, especially in why his relationship with the organization soured dramatically in the end despite the awaited homecoming.
