The Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has deleted all of his social media activity related to the Bucks since 2021.
Antetokounmpo's action has prompted a lot of trade speculation in Milwaukee. The Greek star's statement about giving primacy to winning a championship in the offseason, and his interest in joining the New York Knicks, all indicated that he was unhappy in Milwaukee.
The Bucks' 2025-26 season was expected to change Giannis Antetokounmpo's decision regarding his future. The front office tried to resolve its roster issues by signing Miles Turner. They also signed Antetokounmpo's brother, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, for a one-year contract.
However, in light of the Bucks' performance in the season, they might be on the verge of losing their star player. In this season, they are ranked 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 9-13 record. Moreover, in the absence of a second star besides him, Antetokounmpo has to do even more on both ends.
Despite Giannis' MVP numbers, the Bucks have lost three of their last four games. Their last defeat came against the Washington Wizards, the team with the worst record in the Eastern conference. Perhaps facing defeat against the Wizards, the worst team in the same conference, triggered Antetokounmpo's frustration.
Khris Middleton suggests Giannis Antetokounmpo's pressure on Bucks also had downside
In February earlier this season, Milwaukee traded Khris Middleton to the Wizards, which added Kyle Kuzuma to the squad. Middleton saw big success with Giannis Antetokounmpo, securing a championship together in 2021.
The former Bucks player said that Antetokounmpo's strict pressure on the Bucks to improve the squad had consequences that they did not anticipate.
"Giannis is gonna do what he’s gonna do, and I'm gonna do what I gotta do for my contract situation also," Middleton said.
"Giannis put a lot of pressure on the organization, but we all want to win. At times, we just don't know what type of consequences that can have, good or bad."
"But you gotta respect him. Giannis has to do what’s best for himself and his career."
While the Bucks are set to do everything in their capacity to keep their star player, as they have done in the past. But it seems like the Greek Freak might be on the move, sooner or later.
