Anthony Edwards Takes Swipe at Shannon Sharpe's 'Lakers in 5' Comment

Despite having the best regular season in the last five years, the Lakers have eventually been hit with disappointment. The clash against the Timberwolves was expected to be an even affair but Minnesota emerged as the clear winners to progress to the next stage. Anthony Edwards was pivotal in the Timberwolves' notable win, and he signed it off by taking a big swipe at both the Lakers and Shannon Sharpe.

After the game, the T-Wolves’ superstar guard walked through the hallway and was caught on camera jokingly saying, “Ant-Man, Batman, Superman, Lakers in 5.”

Sharpe popularized the "Lakers in 5" phrase, humorously incorporating opponents' mascots or players into rhymes predicting the Lakers' dominance. However, despite high expectations fueled by their 50-win season and No. 3 seed, largely thanks to Luka Doncic's acquisition, the Lakers were convincingly defeated. Instead, the series win had Timberwolves' Edwards feeling elated.

He wasn’t done with that. In another video, he is seen walking through the street discussing Sharpe’s prediction. “They said ‘Lakers in 5,’ and when we was up 3-1, they said ‘Lakers in 7,'” he exclaimed. “Go to hell today… The good guy gon’ die in this movie. Morris Chestnut died in this movie.”

The Minnesota Timberwolves now await the winner of the Golden State Warriors vs Houston Rockets series. Currently, the Warriors have a 3-2 lead but it could go all the way to game 7.
