De’Anthony Melton nears season debut with increased practice activity; December return targeted.

Steph Curry sidelined against the Heat after re-aggravating an ankle injury during the Warriors’ back-to-back.

The Golden State Warriors have provided an update on When De'Anthony Melton could make his season debut. The experienced guard has not played a single game in the 2025-26 NBA season, as he recovers from an ACL injury. On Wednesday, Anthony Slater on ESPN gave a positive update on Melton's possible comeback from injury.

Slater reported on X (formerly known as Twitter), the team will increase Melton's team activity. The insider also said that the potential date for the 27-year-old could be around December.

"Warriors announce that De’Anthony Melton will continue to increase activity in team practices and scrimmages. Re-evaluated again in 10 days. I’ve heard some time in December has been a floating target for return from ACL rehab," Slater posted.

In the last season, Melton played just six games for the organisation. He averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists before his ACL injury. After that, he was sent to the Brooklyn Nets for Dennis Schroder. He did not play a game for the Nets.

Golden State will finish its six-game road trip on Wednesday against the Miami Heat. Melton is not the only player in the injury report. They will face the South Beach team in the absence of Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, Al Horford and Jonathan Kuminga.

Why is Steph Curry out against the Heat?

The Warriors are coming after a tough 121-113 defeat against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday. The team is aiming to secure a win against the Heat. However, many stars have been listed as out. On the second game of their back-to-back, the team won't feature Steph Curry in the lineup because of an ankle injury.

Following the loss, Curry talked about re-aggravating the injury he had against the San Antonio Spurs.

"Those are the things that you just try to play through and try to figure out how to build momentum," Curry said. "We all know what the schedule's been like. We try not to think about it too much, knowing it is what it is. You have to find a way to overcome it."

"We're just looking at how it responds because I did it again in the first half tonight," he continued. "I don't think it's anything crazy, but we'll see how it responds during the flight and how I feel tomorrow."

Curry has been a pivotal figure to Golden State's season. He is averaging 27.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists on 38.9% shooting from deep. Sadly for the Warriors, they will have to make certain adjustments without the star guard against the magic.
