Despite a little wobble in the end, the LA Lakers were able to stabilize the situation at the vital stage to comfortably walk into the playoffs. Luka Doncic, who was brought on board in February, in what will go down as one of the most sensational trade transfers of all time, improved the prospects of the Lakers by a great deal immediately after arriving. After one exceptional performance after another, he eventually took to the playoffs. The Lakers finished 3rd on the Western Conference table. For his standout exhibition, Doncic garnered immense praise from NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe.

Shannon Sharpe Showers Massive Praise On Luka Doncic
It is the first time since the title run of 2020 that the Lakers have finished the regular season in the top 6. The last two playoff qualifications came through play-ins. They will start their offseason campaign against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers suffered inconsistent at irregular intervals throughout the season but as Luka Doncic settled in his stride and emerged as a prolific scorer from game to game, the Lakers' position did not take a slump in any case, and they are now in contention to win the title.
On ESPN’s First Take, Sharpe declare the Lakers’ prominence over the competition. He highlighted Doncic’s position in a certain scoring statistic behind only the legendary Michael Jordan as further proof.
“When you look at Luka Doncic, he has the second-highest scoring average in the postseason in NBA history,” Sharpe said. “He’s right behind a guy named Michael Jeffrey Jordan. If you’re asking me, it ain’t even close.”
Luka Doncic is on a historic playoff scoring pace, averaging 30.9 points per game across 50 playoff games. He's one of only two players to average 30+ points in the playoffs, with Michael Jordan holding the record at 33.4 points per game.
Can Luka Doncic End Lakers' Title Wait?
Luka Doncic was a cornerstone of the Dallas Mavericks at the start of the season, and it was almost impossible to predict that the Mavs would ever let go of their talisman. However, they did and bought Anthony Davis in exchange. The Slovenian guard has flourished in the purple and gold of the Lakers, and considering the form he has picked recently, it will take a ginormous force to stop him and it won't come as a surprise if Doncic takes the Lakers to the title as well.
