Another disappointing update comes in for Orlando Magic, as their forward Franz Wagner is officially out indefinitely due to continued soreness in the left ankle that he injured earlier this season. Magic's medical team will conduct another examination in the upcoming three weeks.
Tough times for Orlando Magic
Orlando Magic, who are riding on a 28-25 record will face another stint of tough time in Wagner's absence, as the 24-year-old forward shares top scoring honours with Paolo Banchero at 21.3 points per game.
Franz Wagner's struggles with the injuries
Earlier, the forward had to miss 16 back-to-back games when he suffered a left ankle sprain on December 7. He made a comeback on January 17 in Berlin, after another game which took place in London on January 18.
After a spell of overseas fixtures, Wagner missed nine fixtures to have a proper rest, before making another comeback on February 9 and appeared in Orlando's last two fixtures before the All-Star break. The scans conducted by the medical staff suggests that the joint still requires rest.
Impact of Franz Wagner in Orlando Magic's attack
Wagner's absence will make Orlando's attack look vulnerable. Wagner averages 5.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists, while shooting 47.9 per cent. From three-point range, Wagner is going through a career high 36.5 per cent. Orlando are 12-6 when Wagner manages to score at least 20 points, and 16-19 when Wagner does not.
