The star player for Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James hasn't shared his retirement plans but fans think it may happen soon. For the upcoming 2024-25 campaign, James enters his 22nd season in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and is now tied with Vince Carter for the most number of seasons in the history of the NBA. NBA insider Shams Charania feels that fans will have to wait for James to retire as he will play longer.

What did Shams Charania report on this matter?

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, James is not planning to retire anytime soon. The four-time NBA champion is expected to play 'at least' two more seasons and there is a possibility of a third.

"REPORT: LeBron James is expected to play "at least" 2 more years in the NBA and potentially a 3rd, per Shams Charania," posted by the Lakers Daily on their X account.

At 39 years of age, James has still not shown signs that age is catching up to him. Last season in the 71 games that he featured in, he averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists.

It is expected that James will carry on with the same intensity he played last season. Basketball Reference did a projection of the veteran star and it came out that James will average 26.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game in the upcoming season.

James feels that there is still a lot left in him as he powered Team USA to a gold medal in the recently concluded 2024 Paris Olympics. He mentioned that he was not thinking of quitting the league when he was questioned about his retirement plans.

"I haven't thought about what the future holds, just kind of living in the moment. Especially with Bronny being here, I don’t want to take this moment for granted. This is a moment I’ll enjoy maybe a little bit more," James said.

'Yes, LeBron, it’s time for you to quit': Dallas Mavericks owner teases LeBron James

Mark Cuban, who is a businessman and also is the minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks was questioned by TMZ Sports recently. He was questioned about Bronny and his father, LeBron.

TMZ Sports asked Cuban on his views whether he thinks James should hang up his boots and the Mavericks owner without taking any time, said that he feels the 39-year-old should now retire.

"Yes, LeBron, it’s time for you to quit. I’m tired of you. No, I’m bein’ serious, only ’cause he’s still so good. He’s on the Lakers. They’re our rivals, so, it’s time to retire, LeBron," Cuban said.
