The Chicago Sky are all set to host Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, 3rd August at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois. All eyes would be on star player Angel Reese, will she start against Phoenix Mercury or not.
Will Angel Reese play against Phoenix Mercury?
The 23-year-old forward will not be suiting up for the clash against the Phoenix Mercury. She sees her name on the team's injury report as she is dealing with a back injury. Not just this, Reese even missed the team's previous game, which the team lost 73-66 at home.
The former LSU standout last played for the Sky on Tuesday against the Washington Mystics. During that match, she delivered an impressive performance but that came in a losing cause. She managed to notch up 22 points, 13 rebounds and three assists.
Angel Reese has managed to miss four of the 27 games this season and three of them came after the All-Star break. During the ongoing WNBA season, Reese is averaging 14.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 44.8% from the floor.
Despite Angel Reese's consistent production for most of the campaign, the Sky's season has continued to unravel. The franchise currently holds the second worst record in the league (7-17) and sits at the bottom of the league standings as well as second to last place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Chicago Sky are currently navigating through their own injury issues as Angel Reese will join Ariel Atkins, while Hailey Van Lith is questionable to play. Michaela Onyenwere is also on the injury report but she is listed as probable.
