Months after returning to the Los Angeles Clippers in his old familiar No. 3 jersey, franchise star Chris Paul revealed recently that he was being released. In the middle of the night, the Clippers decided to cut ties with the NBA legend, which was disclosed by the veteran on his Instagram story.

The 40-year-old NBA icon wrote, "Just found out I'm being sent home," which surprised the NBA world. Meanwhile, an NBA insider has revealed a possible reason behind his sudden departure from the franchise.

Shams Charani stated on his official X (formerly Twitter) account that Paul’s leadership style did not sit right with the Clippers. He wrote:

“Chris Paul and his leadership style clashed with the Clippers, sources tell ESPN.”

The ESPN journalist continued:

“Paul has been vocal in holding management, coaches, and players accountable, which the team felt became disruptive. Specifically: Ty Lue was not on speaking terms with Paul for several weeks.”

The Clippers also released an official statement regarding the cut-off off stating that they will work with the point guard on the next steps of his career. The NBA franchise also stated that "no one is blaming Chris" for the struggles the team has been going through this season. As per the Clippers’ top basketball executive, Lawrence Frank, the point guard’s sudden departure has indicated that the franchise will attempt to trade Paul.

Tyronn Lue’s side is going through a very disappointing season as they are 14th in the Western Conference. They are 5-16 this season and are coming off a 123-140 loss against the Miami Heat.

Paul is in his 21st season in the National Basketball League, and it was already speculated last month that this would be his final season before his retirement. The future Hall of Famer is averaging 14.3 minutes per game before his abrupt departure from the Clippers before who face the Atlanta Hawks next.
