Lakers Can Rope In Forward From Portland Forward

Toumani Camara, the No. 52 pick in the 2023 draft, has outperformed expectations while playing for the Trail Blazers. His defensive energy and improved three-point shooting make him an excellent fit for the Lakers, who require dependable supporting players behind Luka Doncic.

Camara's energy on defense and ability to space the floor align with what the Lakers need. As Colin Keane of the Sporting News noted, "He competes viciously on the defensive end and uses his length to disrupt passing lanes and hit the glass."

Camara's contract is another key selling point; he will earn only $1.9 million this season, with team-friendly options in 2025-26 ($2.2 million) and 2026-27 ($2.4 million).

Portland has made considerable strides this season, with Camara working alongside breakout star Deni Avdija. His modest salary and good production make him an appealing asset, so the Los Angeles Lakers would need to make a compelling offer.

The Los Angeles Lakers can pursue Camara with intent this summer. His two-way influence and modest contract make him a unique discovery, and combining him with Doncic might boost LA's championship hopes. However, convincing him to leave Portland will be difficult; Rob Pelinka will have to think outside the box.
