Jayson Tatum has not played a single game this season as he recovers from a torn Achilles tendon picked up in last year's playoffs. Tatum has not been ruled out of the full season, and it looks that he is nearing a return.
Good news for Jayson Tatum
The Boston Celtics confirmed on Monday that Tatum is getting assigned to their NBA G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics. He will have practice sessions with Maine's team at the Auerbach Center. He will be joined by his Boston Celtics teammate Hugo Gonzalez and Amari Williams.
It is just a practice, with the Celtics not giving any further update on Tatum's return. But with the one-time NBA champion getting cleared for practice, there is a big chance that he could make his season debut before the playoffs starts.
The news from the Boston Celtics confirmed what ESPN's Shams Charania and NBA on Prime's Chris Haynes had claimed about Jayson Tatum's injury progress.
Charania first claimed on "NBA Countdown" That Tatm was approved to take part in full scrimmages. Chris Haynes followed it up with a report saying that the Celtics star is figuring out if he is going to come back this season or not.
Tatum won't sabotage his recovery and return if he is not fully fit. But if he is feeling fully healthy before the start of the regular season, he is likely coming back to guide the Celtics for a playoff run.
