BCCI has written a letter to ACC to hand over the trophy to champions India.

BCCI has warned Mohsin Naqvi about consequences if the trophy remains in ACC office.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has written a letter to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi warning about further escalation to the International Cricket Council (ICC) if the Asia Cup 2025 trophy is not handed over to champions India.

In a conversation with the India Today, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said that they are ready to take a step-by-step action if the response from Naqvi is null or negative.

“We have written to ACC to give the trophy to the champion team. We are awaiting a response. If the PCB don't respond or resort to a negative response, then we will proceed and write to ICC. We are going to take step-by-step action and continue to pursue it,” Saikia said.

On September 28, Naqvi who is also Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, took the trophy with him after India's five-wicket win. His explanation to not hand over the trophy was that "he looked like a cartoon" as Suryakumar Yadav-led India refused to take the trophy him as part of their stand against Pakistan.

India's hat-trick of wins vs Pakistan

India set the tone with a comprehensive win over Salman Agha's Pakistan at the group stage of the T20 Asia Cup 2025. Skipper Suryakumar said that the rivalry between the two nations ceases to exist as India have been dominating them for several years.

After the handshake snub controversy and drama of boycott over referee Andy Pycroft, Pakistan managed to make it to Super Fours. They aimed to bounce back but their response was thwarted in the Super Fours clash. They even crossed the line with their sledges but India put up a clinical display in the run chase.

In the final, the pressure was immense but India capitalised on a lacklustre Haris Rauf to win the thrilling encounter and win the trophy.

Even after Naqvi's dramstic win from Dubai Cricket Stadium with the trophy, the Indian team's celebrations were not dampened. They celebrated another Asia Cup title win without the trophy.
