Mohsin Naqvi broke his silence on not handing the Asia Cup trophy to India

India didn't receive the Asia Cup trophy after defeating Pakistan in the final

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi has finally broken his silence on the Asia Cup trophy controversy. The controversy remains a red-hot topic and it has been the same ever since India were not handed the Asia Cup trophy after defeating Pakistan in the final on Sunday. The Men in Blue had refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi and thus ended up going back to their hotels empty-handed.

After severe criticism, Naqvi took to social media and shared a post regarding the matter. He stated that he did nothing wrong by not giving India the Asia Cup trophy during the post-match ceremony and added that they can collect the title from him at the ACC office if they want to. He further clarified that he didn't apologize to the BCCI in the recent meeting of ACC and added that he will never do so.

“As ACC President, I was ready to hand over the trophy that very day, and I am still ready now. If they truly want it, they are welcome to come to the ACC office and collect it from me. Let me make it absolutely clear: I have done nothing wrong and I have never apologised to the BCCI nor will I ever do so," Naqvi posted on X.

Naqvi had a heated argument with BCCI in ACC meet

Meanwhile, Sports Tak had reported earlier that BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla had asked some tough questions towards Naqvi in the ACC meeting held in Dubai on Tuesday. The duo got into a heated argument during the meeting and Shukla reminded Naqvi that the Asia Cup trophy is not an individual property and should be handed properly to the winners. On the other hand, Naqvi defended his stance by stating that the ACC hadn't informed him that India will not be taking the trophy from him.

"I was standing there as cartoon without any reason. There was no information to acc in writing that Indian team will not accept it from me," Naqvi said in the meeting, as per a source close to Sports Tak.

When will India receive Asia Cup trophy?

The matter didn't reach a solution in the meeting as Naqvi eventually went on to state that he will discuss about it on a different plat form. It remains to be seen for how long will the controversy go on and when will India finally be able to get their hands on the Asia Cup trophy that they had deservedly won.
