India T20I vice captain Shubman Gill was spotted advising Hong Kong players ahead of his side's Asia Cup 2025 clash against Pakistan in Dubai. Team India will face Pakistan for their second group-stage clash which will take place at Dubai International Stadium.
Hong Kong Cricket posted a video on their 'X' formerly known as Twitter where India Test captain Gill can be seen sharing some batting tips with Hong Kong players, advising them not to overthink that much and play their shots without burden.
"Practice kro phle bahut zyada. Jitna zyada sochoge utna kharab hoga. Kum se kum sochna hai. What is being in the zone. Being in the zone is jab player zyada nahi sochta (Practice a lot. The more you think about your shots the worse it gets. You have to think as less as possible. Being in the zone is when you do not think much)," Gill was heard as saying.
Hong Kong, who are placed in Group B alongside Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, have had a forgettable outing in the Asia Cup 2025 so far; the side have lost both their clashes against Bangladesh and Afghanistan. They have almost made it out of the Super Four contention. The side will play their last group stage clash against Sri Lanka on September 15 at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
On the other hand, India have registered a dominating nine-wicket win in their Asia Cup 2025 opener clash against the UAE, where Shubman Gill smashed a winning boundary. After opting to bowl, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side bundled out the hosts on 57 runs. While chasing, destructive opener Abhishek Sharma and vice captain Shubman Gill smashed the bowlers to all over the ground before Abhishek lost his wicket on a mistimed shot for a six. After Southpaw's wicket, skipper Suryakumar Yadav joined his deputy to guide India to a one-sided win.
