Story Highlights:

Abhishek Sharma smashed 74 runs against Pakistan.

India beat Pakistan by six wickets.

India's young opener revealed the secret behind his unique 'L' celebration after smashing 74 off 39 balls against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Abhishek's unique 'L' celebration came into the limelight after his brilliant Indian Premier League (IPL) knock for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He also celebrated the same way after smashing his 24-ball half-century,  the quickest by an Indian against Pakistan.

Abhishek blew kisses towards the stand and then made an 'L' gesture, which raised speculations about the gesture. He reflected on the "special" moment and dedicated his gesture of "love" to the nation.

"This is love, it is a celebration for those who support the Indian team. This is for India," said Abhishek Sharma in a candid chat with India skipper Suryakumar Yadav on a video shared by BCCI.

'Whenever they come, we have won the game one-sidedly'

Abhishek’s family was also at Dubai Stadium when he wreaked havoc against Pakistan, witnessing his fearless approach against the bowlers firsthand. The opening batter believes that whenever his family comes to watch his matches, the team tends to win singlehandedly.

"It is very special because I feel their record is going very well for me. Whenever they come, we have won the game one-sidedly. Even today, we won the contest one-sidedly. It is a special feeling when family members come," Abhishek said while speaking about his family's presence.

How Suryakumar reminded Abhishek Sharma of his father against Pakistan

During his hard-hitting knock, Abhishek revealed that skipper Suryakumar sent him instructions on a couple of occasions to push for a single, a moment that turned back the clock and reminded him of his father.

"Today I remembered my dad because of the way you were standing and saying take one run, he used to do the same, sitting in front of the sight screen. That's where I pay the most attention to. I am used to it, and you asked me two to three times to push for a single," Abhishek also said.

Coming back to the clash, India defeated Pakistan by six wickets in the Super Four clash at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. The Men in Blue will now face Bangladesh in their second Super Four clash, which will take place on September 24 at the same venue.
