The highly-anticipated India vs Pakistan Asia Cup contest turned out to be a dampener for fans as the relentless rain had a final say on the outcome of the match. After India's innings came to a close on September 2 (Saturday) in Pallekele, the skies opened up and the rain played hide and seek with the players, match officials and fans for some time before the decision was taken to call off the contest. It was a sedate ending to a high-voltage clash and fans were dejected by the final outcome.
One of the Pakistani fans, in particular, was heartbroken not because the match ended in a washout but because former India captain and maverick batter, Virat Kohli failed to score a century and was dismissed cheaply.
In a video that has gone viral on the internet, a Pakistan female fan can be seen publicly admitting her fondness for Kohli. The Pakistani supporter also admitted that she came to watch Kohli score a century and made her way to Pallekele only to witness the living legend of the game.
"I'm a bit upset as Virat Kohli is my favourite cricketer, and I wanted him to see score a century. I had come to see the match only for him and see him live. I’m supporting Pakistani also, but I love Virat Kohli,” a Pakistan fan said.
In the video, the fan was interrupted by another Pakistan supporter for speaking fondly about Kohli and the female came up with a befitting reply.
"Chacha Padosi ko pyaar karna koi buri baat toh nahin hain na (Uncle, loving your neighbour is not a bad thing)," she said.
When asked to select between Pakistan captain and superstar, Babar Azam and Kohli, the fan named the latter without any hesitation.

In the high-octane match on Saturday, Kohli walked into bat with the expectations of over 1.4 billion people on his shoulders. The maverick batter played a delightful cover drive that made Indian fans inside the stadium jump out of their seats in sheer ecstasy. The celebrations were short-lived as Shaheen Afridi found the inside edge of Kohli's willow and the ball went back to the right-handed batter's stumps.
Kohli departed for just four runs off seven deliveries, six of which were dot balls, including the ball on which he was dismissed by Afridi.
