The two superstars of Indian cricket became the fastest pair to score 5,000 partnership runs in ODIs. Even though the partnership between Rohit and Virat lasted for just 10 runs, the duo gave a joyous moment to their massive fan base. Talking about the numbers, Rohit and Virat have batted together 86 times in 50-over international cricket and have scored 5,008 runs at a commendable average of 61.82. The duo has registered 18 century partnerships and 15 half-century alliances in ODIs. The highest partnership between the two stylish batters is 246 runs.

Meanwhile, Rohit became the only Indian batter to be involved in two 5,000-run partnerships for India in ODI cricket. Rohit has 5,193 partnership runs with Shikhar Dhawan in 117 innings. Former Sri Lanka captain and left-handed wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Sangakkara is the only other batter in ODI cricket history to be involved in two 5,000-run partnerships.

Rohit registered his 51st half-century in ODI cricket before Wellalage delivered another unplayable ball that sent the Indian skipper back to the pavilion. The Hitman departed after scoring 53 runs off 48 balls with the help of seven fours and two sixes.

Virat Kohli was also bamboozled by Wellalage as the former India skipper walked back to the dressing room after scoring just three runs off 12 balls.
