A total of 11 wickets fell in the opening two sessions of the 3rd Test match between India and Australia in Indore on March 01 (Wednesday). The Baggy Greens’ spinners, led by Matthew Kuhnemann, stole the limelight and feasted on a pitch that offered vicious turn from the onset. As a result, India’s batting line-up folded without putting up any resistance. The hosts scored just 109 runs in the first innings.
After a poor display with the bat, the onus was on the Indian bowlers to bring the team back into the contest. In-form Ravindra Jadeja gave India the perfect start as he dismissed Travis Head (9) in the second over of the innings.
The left-arm spinner then cleaned up star batter Marnus Labuschagne, who was batting on a duck at the time. But lack of discipline came back to haunt Jadeja and India. The Indian spinner stepped over the line while delivering the ball and the third umpire adjudged it a no-ball.
Head coach Rahul Dravid looked unimpressed by Jadeja’s error and his reaction soon went viral on social media.

With India already behind the eight-ball, bowlers cannot afford to hand lives to the opposition batters. After getting a lifeline, Labuschagne continued to frustrate Indian bowlers and was unbeaten on 16 runs at Tea on Day 1.
Opening batter Usman Khawaja looked solid against Indian spinners and raced to 33 runs before the break. Khawaja and Labuschagne registered an unbeaten alliance of 59 runs for the second wicket and took Australia’s score to 71/1 at Tea.
