Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar reckoned that Virat Kohli is like Sachin Tendulkar after the India batter failed to perform in the ongoing first Test match against Bangladesh at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Kohli just scored 6 and 17 runs in 1st Test match against Bangladesh. The stylish Indian batter got an unlucky dismissal in the second innings as he was given out LBW, but replays later showed he had edged the ball. He chose not to use the Decision Review System (DRS), perhaps uncertain about the delivery, which turned out to be a missed chance to save his wicket.

Manjrekar reckoned that Kohli feels more at home away from home just like cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar. He further explained by giving the example of Kohli's last Test outing against South Africa where Kohli was the only Indian batter to score more than 40 runs. India's legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar has scored 8705 Test runs away from home which is the most by any batter.

“He's not enjoying batting in India as much. Like Tendulkar, I think he just feels more at home away from home. We saw that in South Africa... when he played, he was by far India's best batter. That's fine, better to get runs away from home than at home,” Manjrekar told ESPNCricinfo.

On 'X' (formerly known as Twitter), Manjrekar noted that Kohli likely chose not to review his decision to preserve that option for his teammates, showcasing his selflessness. Kohli's early dismissal added to India's struggles, as they lost three wickets before lunch on Day 2.

“Felt bad for Virat today. He obviously didn’t think he had hit it. Just wanted to know from Gill if ball was hitting stumps. Despite Gill encouraging him to go for the review anyway he walked away dejected wanting to keep the 3 reviews for his team” posted Manjrekar.
