India's young speedster Akash Deep revealed the banter with former India captain Virat Kohli when he asked him for bat ahead of the Bangladesh Test series. Modern-day great Kohli gifted his signed bat to Akash Deep before the 2 Test match series against Bangladesh.
Akash Deep revealed that it was tough for him but Kohli suddenly came and gifted him the bat.
"Yes, it was tough. But I don't know what happened to bhaiya, he suddenly came and said 'Le, tujhe bat chahiye tha na, le khel'. So it got easy. Yes, there was pressure, as when I held the bat I told him it's giving the feel of a cover drive. He said don't do drama, just take it. I asked him if he would take the bat or not, he said no," Akash Deep told Jio Cinema.
Akash Deep slammed two back-to-back sixes against Shakib Al Hasan on the second and the third ball he faced. The likes of Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir were spotted smiling after seeing Akash Deep's onslaught.
Akash Deep made his Test debut against England in 2024. He picked up three wickets in the second Test match against Bangladesh and got two scalps in the first Test at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

India won the second Test match by seven wickets on Day 5 of the second Test match at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur where Yashasvi Jaiswal was awarded as 'Player of the Match'. He scored 72 and 52 runs in the second Test which helped India to whitewash the series. India have not lost a single Test series on home soil since 2012.
