Jayden Seales' career best 4/22 ends West Indies' decade-long wait for ODI series win against Bangladesh with easy 7-wicket victory

West Indies registered a comprehensive seven-wicket win over Bangladesh to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Jayden Seales' career best four-wicket haul helped the hosts bowl out Bangladesh for 227 and then chase down the target with seven wickets in hand and 13.1 overs to spare. This is West Indies' first ODI series win in 10 years. 

Seales strikes with new ball

Earlier, skipper Shai Hope won the toss and opted to field first. Seales was menacing with the new ball sending Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das and captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz back to the pavillion for single-digit scores. Tanzid Hasan scored 46 runs from 33 balls before falling to Justin Greaves. Gudakesh Motie dismissed Afif Hossain and Jaker Ali. Rishad Hossain became debutant Marquino Mindley's maiden Test wicket.  

Mahmudullah, Tanzim save Bangladesh from low score

Mahmudullah and Tanzim Hasan Sakib's 92-run partnership for the eighth wicket helped West Indies cross the 200-run mark. Sakib was dismissed for 62-ball 45 by Roston Chase. In the next over, Seales got rid of Mahmudullah who scored 62 runs from 92 balls including a couple of fours and four sixes. Shoriful Islam contributed with an eight-ball 15 cameo. In the 46th over, Romario Shepherd got the better of Shoriful as Bangladesh were bowled out for 227.

King leads Windies to easy win

Brandon King used the fielding restrictions to find boundaries whereas Evin Lewis was cautious against the new ball. King reached his fifty from 52 balls. The opening partnership was broken in the 21st over by leg-spinner Rishad. Lewis scored 49 runs from 62 balls including two fours and four sixes. In the 29th over, pacer Nahid Rana knocked over King. The opener's 76-ball 82 was studded with eight fours and three sixes. Keacy Carty missed his fifty as he was dismissed by Afif in the 34th over. Carty's 47-ball 45 featured seven fours. In the 37th over, Sherfane Rutherford finished the run chase with a six. He remained unbeaten for 15-ball 24. On the other end, Hope scored 17 runs from 21 balls.

Seales was adjudged 'Player of the Match' for the four-wicket haul. 

"Pleased with the way I bowled today, things didn't go my way in the first game. I realized what the batters were trying to do to me after the first game and it was all about adjusting the lengths and bowling as fast as I can. Our plan was to bowl in good areas with the new ball and not go searching and force them to make mistakes," Seales said in the post-match presentation.
