Top 5 run-scorers from ICC Champions Trophy 2017, only three batters to play in upcoming edition
Two of the top five-run scorers in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, openers Shikhar Dhawan and Tamim Iqbal have retired from international cricket.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2017 was played in England. Pakistan beat defending champions India in the final by 180 runs to win the trophy for the first time. However, no Pakistan batter featured in the list of top five run-scorers in the tournament, not even Fakhar Zaman. Ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025, here is the list of top five run-scorers from the previous edition -

5. India's Virat Kohli scored 258 runs from five innings at an average of 129 including three half-centuries. The former Indian captain scored at a strike rate of 98.85. Kohli will warm-up for the mega event with three-ODI series against England.

4. England's Joe Root scored 258 runs from four innings at an average of 86 including a century and fifty each. He scored runs at a strike rate of 97.72. Root recently made a comeback into the ODI squad ahead of Champions Trophy 2025.

3. Bangladesh's recently retired opener Tamim Iqbal scored 293 runs from four innings at an average of 73.25 including a century and two fifties. His strike rate was 86.17. Iqbal recently revealed that he had a conversation with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and decided not to play.

2. India's current skipper Rohit Sharma has scored 304 runs from five innings at an average of 76 including a century and two half-centuries. His strike rate was just over Tamim Iqbal at 86.85. Rohit has been facing harsh criticism for his diminishing returns in Test cricket.
