India captain Rohit Sharma and veteran speedster Mohammed Shami were looking uncomfortable during the Champions Trophy 2025 clash against Pakistan at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Shami who is leading the pace attack left the field during the first 10 overs after feeling some pain in his ankle. On the other hand, Rohit was also missing from the field supposedly due to a hamstring injury.
Rohit was seen limping and struggling to chase balls at the very end of India's bowling innings. Former South African pacer Dale Steyn who is doing commentary duties spotted the issue and said that Rohit was struggling with his left hamstring. However, Shami again came to the field and he was looking fine.
Rohit and Shami's injury concern came at a crucial time when India already won their first two league matches and are on the verge of reaching the semifinal. India middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer revealed that he had a conversation with the duo and there were no concerns with either of the players.
"Not really. I mean, I had a brief chat with them, both of them were quite comfortable with the way things progressed, and yeah, from my knowledge, I don't think there is any issue," Shreyas Iyer said after the match.
Shami made his comeback in international cricket after a long break of almost a year. The veteran speedster got out of the cricketing action due to an ankle injury he got during the ODI World Cup 2023. On the other hand, Rohit is fit and featuring in all tournaments.
Rohit-led India have won their two league matches and now will lock horns against New Zealand for their third league match before featuring in the Champions Trophy semifinal.
