Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar lavished praise on Sanju Samson for his aggressive batting in T20Is ahead of the upcoming white ball series against England which is scheduled to start from January 22. Team India are scheduled to play five T20Is followed by three ODIs this will be India's last international assignment from the Champions Trophy 2025.
Samson who was part of India's T20 World Cup winning squad recently promoted to opener as he smashed three centuries in the last five T20Is.
"Self-confidence, slight maturity, and he is valuing his wicket a little more. He is playing long innings and not just one but repeatedly. Some people blossom a little late and Sanju Samson is like that," Manjrekar told Star Sports.
"I am a big fan of him now. It seemed earlier that he was batting well but where were the runs. Now the batting is anyway mighty, even the runs are there," the former India batter added.
Earlier, Manjrekar backed Samson over Rishabh Pant as the reserve wicketkeeper batter for India in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to start from February 19 and India will play their opener clash against Bangladesh on February 20.
Champions Trophy 2025 matches will take place in Pakistan and Dubai where India-centric matches will take place in Dubai. The final of the marquee event also depends on India's performance in the tournament, if India failed to reach the final then it will take place in Pakistan otherwise Dubai will host the grand finale.
