In the third ODI against Bangladesh, England's Rehan Ahmed created history. The 18-year-old became the youngest to make ODI debut for England at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on March 6. Ahmed is 18 years and 205 days old. He broke Ben Hollioake's record created in 1997. At 19 years and 195 days of age, he made his ODI debut against Australia at the Lord's.

England’s T20 World Cup 2022-winning skipper Jos Buttler was excited as Ahmed got his debut from leg-spinner Adil Rashid

“He’s still a very young man – just a teenager. We’re excited about his development and where we think he can go and it’s great to have him in and around the England set-up. Someone like Adil Rashid has been such a star performer for us for a long period of time, Rehan getting to spend time with him and discuss bowling and watching each other bowl will be a huge benefit to him and a big step in his development,” he was quoted as saying by Mirror.

“We’re really excited to have someone with so much talent, not just with the ball, with the bat as well. We’re looking forward to watching him develop and hopefully turning himself into a brilliant international cricketer.”

Last year, the Nottingham-born spinner also became the youngest to make Test debut for England during the Test series against Pakistan.

Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz became Ahmed's maiden ODI victim. Ahmed took a catch off his own bowling in the 45th over of the innings. The teenager turned out to be expensive as he conceded 62 runs from his full quota of 10 overs.

As skipper Buttler gave more chances to the youngster, Rashid bowled just five overs despite picking up two wickets. Speedster Jofra Archer picked up a three-fer to help the visitors wrap up Tamim Iqbal-led Bangladesh's innings for 246.

Najmul Hossain Shanto (53), wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim (70) and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan (75) scored half-centuries to help Bangladesh post respectable total of 246 before getting all out with seven balls to spare.
