'Just hit the damn thing, stop being a princess': Spectator trolls Steve Smith for complaining about sight screen

Australia batters struggled on the opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh at Marrara Cricket Ground, Darwin. Steve Smith made the early reprieve count with a half-century to take Australia close to 200 before they were bowled out for 198. During his knock, he complained about a person distracting him by walking in front of the sight screen. But, a spectator chose to have some fun by trolling Smith and get a laugh out of his mates in the stands.

"Just hit the damn thing, Smudge (Smith's nickname). Stop being a princess. You are not bigger than the game, Steve, deal with it," the spectator shouted in a video posted by Fox Cricket.

Bangladesh drop Smith early

The incident took place before the 17th over of the innings in the first session. Smith was batting on just two runs from six balls then. On the second ball of the 17th over, Ebadot Hossain induced an outside edge off Smith's bat but Tanzid Hasan Tamim dropped the catch at third slip.

Smith scores fifty

In the next over, Smith edged one again but there was no one to take the catch at the third slip. He had a close shave in the 21st over as well. After a scratchy start, he held on to one end and got to his 45th Test half-century from 76 balls while wickets fell on the other end. It was his 82nd 50-plus score for Australia in Tests. He levelled with former Australia captain Steve Waugh. He is only behind other former Australian captains Ricky Ponting (103 fifty-plus scores) and Allan Border (90 fifty-plus scores).

Mahmud takes 6-fer, Australia all out for 198

Early into the third session, Smith became Hasan Mahmud's fifth wicket of the day. He went for an upper cut but miscued it. Wicketkeeper Litton Das called for it and took an easy catch. Smith scored 71 runs from 109 balls, featuring seven fours and a six. No other Australia batter crossed the 30-run mark. Mahmud ended up taking a six-wicket haul as Australia were bowled out for 198 in 53 overs, their lowest Test score against Bangladesh.
