India beat England by 106 runs to level the series 1-1 in Visakhapatnam.

Rohit Sharma reminisced about the remarkable catch he made to dismiss the dangerous Ollie Pope during India's second Test against England at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

In the second innings, Ravichandran Ashwin delivered a ball from around the wicket, and Pope attempted a powerful cut shot through the off-side. However, Pope could only manage a thick outside edge. Positioned at slip, Rohit faced a challenging task as the ball was travelling at a fair clip.

However, Rohit exhibited excellent reflexes as he successfully grabbed onto the ball. The Indian captain managed to secure the catch with both hands and prevented the ball from slipping past him.

After taking the catch, the 36-year-old Rohit emphasised the importance for slip fielders to 'stay still and react'.

"As a slip fielder, you are always ready for it. Idea is to just stay still and then react," Rohit said in a video uploaded on the official 'X' handle of the BCCI.

Ollie Pope's wicket was crucial: Rohit Sharma

Pope troubled India during the Hyderabad Test by scoring 196 runs, leading England to a 28-run victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

In the second innings of the Vizag Test, Pope made 23 runs off 21 balls with five fours before being dismissed by a combination of Ashwin and Rohit. Rohit understood the significance of removing Pope early before he settled into his innings.

"It was a crucial wicket for us because he was someone who was in good form," he said.

"Sometimes the ball comes so quickly that you don't get time to react and take your body there. So, your hands need to be there at the right time and right place. I hope to take many more in the series like that," Rohit added.

India won the second Test on February 5 against England in Vizag by 106 runs to draw level in the five-match series.

The two teams will now meet in Rajkot for the third Test, set to begin on February 15.
