Sharma, who had been in blistering form throughout the ODI World Cup 2023, effortlessly dispatched the Australian bowlers to every corner of the field. He gave India a cracking start with impressive 47 runs from just 30 deliveries to set the tone for India. However, in the 10th over, Glenn Maxwell was brought into the attack with a task to tame Sharma force. However, fortune soon shifted in favor of the Australian team.

Facing Maxwell, Sharma charged down the crease, intending to send the ball for a six over the cover fielder. However, he failed to time the bowl welland the ball ballooned into the air, sailing over the hands of the fielder stationed at cover.

 

Travis Head, with his eyes glued to the trajectory of the ball, swiftly turned his head, keeping the ball within his sight as it arced gracefully over his shoulder. In a moment of impeccable timing, he launched himself into a breathtaking dive, his outstretched arms grasping the ball just inches from the ground to pull off a Kapil Dev-like catch to halt Sharma's innings. This remarkable display of fielding sent shockwaves through the stadium, silencing the crowd and leaving them in awe of the Head's athleticism and skill.

 

 

Australian bowlers kept striking after Rohit's dismissal and eventually bowled out India for a modest total of 240. Earlier, Australia won the toss and put India to bat first in the ODI World Cup final.
