Afghanistan created their own piece of history when, for the first time, they triumphed over Pakistan, marking their second major upset after previously toppling England in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.

Achieving a target of 283 runs set by Pakistan, Afghanistan lost only two wickets, sealing their victory in the 49th over. The euphoria of this win was palpable, with the Afghan players celebrating on the field, in the dressing room, and aboard their team bus. A video capturing their jubilation on the bus, where they danced to Shahrukh Khan's "Lungi Dance", has gone viral.

With two wins from five matches, they're now being touted as potential semi-finalists. If they clinch their upcoming two matches, a semi-final berth could be within their grasp. In contrast, Pakistan's journey to the next round seems increasingly challenging, especially since they haven't progressed past the initial stages since the 2011 World Cup.

In the highlighted match, Pakistan set a target of 282 runs after losing seven wickets. Afghanistan's response was stellar, amassing 286 runs with a loss of just two wickets in 49 overs. Babar contributed 74 runs for Pakistan, while Abdullah Shafiq added 58 runs. On Afghanistan's side, Ibrahim Zadran notched up 87 runs, Rahmat Shah remained unbeaten at 77, Rahmanullah Gurbaz made 65, and Captain Shahidi contributed an undefeated 48.

The chase was initiated with a robust 130-run partnership between openers Gurbaz and Ibrahim. After Gurbaz's dismissal at 65 runs, Ibrahim and Rahmat Shah added another 60 runs. Ibrahim's innings concluded at 87 runs, after which Shahidi and Rahmat Shah formed an unbroken 96-run partnership, steering Afghanistan to victory.
