Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has announced a massive prize money for Rohit Sharma-led Team India after their T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Team India will get a whopping sum of Rs 125 crore for winning the ICC men's T20 World Cup 2024 trophy by beating South Africa in a thrilling final on June 29.

 

“I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement,” Jay Shah wrote in a post on X.

India's T20 World Cup triumph came under Rohit Sharma's captaincy ended an 11-year ICC trophy drought. This win comes after their Champions Trophy triumph in England back in 2013 and marks their first T20 World Cup title since the tournament's debut in 2007, held in South Africa.

 

Besides BCCI's prize money, the ICC awarded a record-breaking total prize pool of $11.25 million (₹94 crore) for the tournament. As winners, India received at least $2.45 million (₹20.42 crore) in prize money from the ICC.

How much prize money did South Africa receive as the runners-up?


South Africa, playing in their first World Cup final, earned a whopping $1.28 million (₹10.67 crore) for their unbeaten run up until the summit clash.

 

How much did the losing semi-finalists receive?
 

Both England and Afghanistan walked away with $787,500 (₹6.56 crore) each, despite missing out on a final berth.

 

What did teams that did not advance past the Super 8 stage receive?
 

Teams that did not advance past the Super 8 stage received $382,500 (₹3.19 crore) each, while those finishing between ninth and twelfth place pocketed $247,500 (₹2.06 crore) each.

 

What about teams finishing between thirteenth and twentieth place?
 

Teams finishing between thirteenth and twentieth place received $225,000 (₹1.87 crore) each.

 

Besides this, all teams received a participation bonus of $31,154 (₹2.59 crore) for each match won, excluding the semi-finals and finals.
