The Team India captain Rohit Sharma took to social media to express his thanks to the fans who packed the streets of Mumbai to celebrate the T20 World Cup 2024 title triumph on July 4. This comes after the team's celebratory open-bus parade through Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

The celebrations began in New Delhi where the team met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following that, they travelled to Mumbai for the much-anticipated parade. Thousands of fans lined the streets, cheering on their cricket heroes.  The team then arrived at the iconic Wankhede stadium, where they were met with even more enthusiastic cheers and applause. There, BCCI officials presented the team with a prize of Rs 125 crore. The players also had the opportunity to share their experiences from the World Cup with the passionate crowd.

Rohit Sharma, the victorious captain of the Indian cricket team, received a warm welcome home after their T20 World Cup win. His official media team, Team 45 Ro, shared a photo on Instagram showcasing Sharma standing proudly at his doorway with the caption ‘home sweet home’. The photo also revealed a welcoming gesture - the floor adorned with flower petals to celebrate his return as a World Cup champion.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma himself took to his personal X account (formerly known as Twitter) to express his gratitude to the fans. He dedicated the team's victory to the entire nation with a heartfelt message: "this is for YOU."  He further shared pictures from the celebratory events on his X account.

Under Rohit Sharma's captaincy finally ended their 13-year wait for an ICC World Cup trophy. They clinched a thrilling victory against South Africa in the finals on June 29 in Barbados. The win was a dominant one, with India securing a comfortable seven-run margin. While the entire team played superbly, individual accolades were bestowed upon Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Kohli, with a stellar performance in the final, was named 'Player of the Match.' Bumrah, on the other hand, consistently impressed throughout the tournament, earning him the prestigious 'Player of the Tournament' title.

 

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav also couldn't contain his excitement as he shared photos from the celebratory events. Among the pictures were a heartwarming selfie with cheering fans and a joyous photo alongside skipper Rohit Sharma.  Yadav expressed his disbelief at the whirlwind of emotions, highlighting the immense joy he felt.  He concluded by thanking everyone for their unwavering love, the unforgettable memories created, and the incredible support that helped bring the World Cup trophy back to India.
