The first batch of players of India's T20 World Cup squad has left for the US for the upcoming mega tournament which will be held in the United States and West Indies from June 2. The first set of players led by Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid was not joined by batting maestro Virat Kohli, vice-captain Hardik Pandya. They will be joining the team at a much later date. The other big names in the first set that departed for the US were Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav. They were spotted at the airport with Axar Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, Shubman Gill, and Khaleel Ahmed.
 

Why Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya did not travel with Rohit and co?

 

Sports Tak has learned from its sources that Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Sanju Samson will be most likely joining the team on 31st May. The Source also told us that Virat is currently on a break before taking up on the World Cup assignment and Sanju has to finish some personal work in UAE. They along with Hardik will fly along with the second batch on May 27.

The second batch of Indian cricketers to fly for the T20 World Cup will also include Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan, and Yashasvi Jaiswal as they will leave for the US on May 27, right after the IPL 2024 final. This is because their team, Rajasthan Royals (RR), was recently eliminated from the IPL. They lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Qualifier 2 by 36 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Rohit will be leading the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2024. They have been placed in Group A along with USA, Canada, Pakistan, and Ireland. The Men in Blue will start their campaign with the clash against the Irish side on June 5 in New York. Then they will face their arch-rivals Pakistan at the same venue, on June 9.
