Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was all praise for both India and Pakistan, lavishing praise on the 2022 T20 World Cup clash between the two sides at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday, October 24, saying that if the tournament 'gets any better than that, then we are in for an amazing three weeks'.

India beat Pakistan by four wickets in a match that saw final-over drama at the MCG after Virat Kohli was the hero for India, taking the team home.

"I actually think we should just stop the World Cup there. Um, if it gets any better than that, we're in for an amazing three weeks. India v Pakistan is always an incredible game to watch. I can't imagine what it would be like to have been in that crowd and to be a part of it," Marsh said in the press conference ahead of Australia's match against Sri Lanka.

Despite the early batting collapse while chasing the target of 160, Kohli, along with Hardik Pandya, took the match out of the Pakistani's hands after Arshdeep Singh's brilliant 3/32 restricted Pakistan to 159/8. After a slow start, Kohli took on the Pakistan bowlers and scored an unbeaten 82 off 53 balls.

"But yeah, Amazing. Virat Kohli has been through an indifferent 12 months when you think about his career. And for him to do that, um, you know, put his mark on the World Cup and it was an incredible innings to watch, an incredible game. So hopefully there's a few more of those," Marsh added.

Arshdeep Singh got the all-important wicket of Babar Azama as he gave India the perfect start on his very first ball in a T20 World Cup. It was even special as the Pakistan captain was dismissed for a golden duck. The India left-arm fast bowler went on to get rid of Mohammad Rizwan and became the first bowler to remove both Pakistan openers in the same innings.

Meanwhile, the defending champions Australia find themselves in a difficult situation, having lost their opening match to the 2021 T20 World Cup runners-up New Zealand. Australia would look to bounce back when they play against Sri Lanka in Perth on October 25.
