The stage is set for the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. And kicking off the proceedings are Pakistan and New Zealand, who will meet in the first semifinal in Sydney on Wednesday, November 8. But, rain is always a threat Down Under.

So, in such a situation, there are many permutations on which the result will be finalised. Here, we answer0 all these questions ahead of the first semifinal, and the second one which will take place between India and England in Adelaide on Thursday, November 8.

Rule number one
The ICC has made a provision for reserve days for the semifinals and final of the 2022 T20 World Cup. In case not a single ball is bowled on the primary matchday because of rain or any other reason, then the entire match will be played on the next day i.e the reserve day.

Rule number two
Meanwhile, if a match starts on the primary matchday, and then rain interferes. Then the match will resume from where it was stopped on the reserve day. Much like India's semifinal tryst against New Zealand during the 2019 ODI World Cup.

Rule number three
Apart from this, if there is a game of at least 10 overs (5 overs per side) then that will be enough to determine the result of the match.

Rule number four
In the end, if the game does not take place due to rain on the primary matchday as well as the reserve day, then the teams that topped their group i.e New Zealand and India, will directly enter the final.

Looking at the weather conditions ahead of Pakistan's clash with New Zealand, Sydney is slated to experience slight showers in the morning. But when the match starts in the evening, there is no chance of rain.
