MS Dhoni added another feather to his already illustrious cap as he led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their fourth Indian Premier League (IPL) title. The yellow brigade brushed aside Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 27 runs in the final to end their three-year trophy drought.

Despite steering the Chennai outfit to glory, fans are still doubtful of seeing Dhoni again in the yellow jersey. The mega-auction ahead of the next IPL season allows every franchise to retain up to four players with no right-to-match cards available. a franchise can either keep two Indian and two overseas players or three Indians and one overseas player in the mix.

As all the franchises will be looking to rejig their squad, Dhoni has made it clear to the the Super Kings that they should not splurge a huge amount of money on him. Speaking to Editorji, CSK owner N Srinivasan has revealed that Dhoni does not want the management to impulsively retain him before the mega-auction.

"MS is a very fair person. He wanted the retention policy to come out as he didn’t want CSK to lose money trying to retain him. That is the reason why he gave different replies to people. However, he made a very regnant statement. On being asked about the legacy he left behind, he said I am not gone. So, that says it all," Srinivasan said.

A team will have to shell out Rs 16 crore for its first choice player if it retains 4 players while the amount will come down to Rs 15 crore if 3 players are retained. A franchise will have to spend Rs 14 crore if it retains 1 or 2 players.
