Afghanistan Cricket Board Chairman Azizullah Fazli has revealed the team's departure plan for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the UAE. Afghanistan will leave on Wednesday as per Fazli and the players will join Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi, who are already playing in the IPL 2021 in the UAE.

With just ten-days remaining for the ICC T20 World Cup, which begins from October 17, ICC has put out a post on Twitter in which West Indies T20 captain Kieron Pollard has picked his five T20 players whom he would pick in a World T20 Cup XI. The list names just one Indian, MS Dhoni.

Afghanistan's head coach Lance Klusener has praised Taliban, saying they have been “extremely supportive” of the Afghan national cricket team and wish to promote cricket in the country. “The Taliban are all for promoting and supporting cricket by all accounts they’re very happy for us to continue and have been extremely supportive. It’s a huge, huge change for the country, for the people. It’s going to take a little bit of time for everyone to find their feet,” Klusener told AFP. Apart from that, the former South African all-rounder shared his plans with the Afghanistan team, revealing that his troops are preparing to leave for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as soon as possible. Furthermore, he believes they are fortunate that their players have played in numerous leagues across the world. The 50-year-old also believes that Afghanistan has the strongest spin attack in the world and that they will pose a significant challenge to opponents, particularly if the spinners get some help from the track. “We were planning at least a month’s camp (in the UAE) but we are still waiting for visas, so that’s not going to happen. We will try to get there as soon as we can,” Klusener said “We’re lucky that quite a few of our guys play in T20 leagues in various places. I think we’ve got the best spin attack in the world. We will be asking questions of any team we play, especially if there is a little bit of turn available,” he added. Along with India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and the other two qualifying teams, Afghanistan are in the second group of T20 World Cup 2021. They will begin their campaign against one of the qualifying teams on October 25.

‘Taliban is thoroughly supporting us’: Lance Klusener

The Sri Lankan cricket team has added five more players to their T20 World Cup squad. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) made this announcement today i.e., September 30, 2021. Pathum Nissanka, Minod Bhanuka, Ashen Bandara, Lakshan Sandakan, and Ramesh Mendis are the five players who have been added to the original squad of the Lankan team. Lahiru Madusanka who was previously included in the team has been omitted from the squad as he is recovering from an injury. The team will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Namibia in the first round of World Cup.&nbsp;Few omissions Dasun Shanka has been named as the captain of the Sri Lankan side. There are not many changes that have been made in the squad. Three players Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka, and Niroshan Dickwella have been left out from the squad as they were banned for breaching the COVID-19 protocols in England earlier this July. Bhanuka, who was keeping wickets in absence of Kusal Perera couldn’t make it into the main World Cup squad. They have also named four reserves who will travel with the squad as injury cover – Lahiru Kumara, Binura Fernando, Akila Dananjaya, and Pulina Tharanga.
