Amol Muzumdar played a crucial role in India's ODI World Cup 2025 win.

India women's head coach Amol Muzumdar was the backbone of the Harmanpreet Kaur-led India that defeated South Africa in the final to win the maiden World Cup at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Muzumdar was roped in with Team India as head coach of the Indian women's team in October 2023 and has been a vital cog in the team's success, being a crucial support staff member in the team.

However, a day after India's World Cup win, Amol Muzumdar's pep talk in the team huddle before the action began at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai has gone viral, where he asked the team to 'cut the outside noise' and 'write their own story'.

"For the next seven hours, we cut out all the noise. We cut them out of our lives. We create our own bubble here," Muzumdar said in a video shared by the ICC.

 

"Seven hours, create our own bubble, and we step into it, and we finish that. And we write our own story. No more stories from the outside, we write our own story. You will write your own story tonight. Let's stay in that bubble for the next seven hours. Let's create history," he added.

After India's World Cup win, Skipper Harmanpreet was also seen touching Muzumdar's feet for his contributions to the team's win.

India vs South Africa Women's ODI World Cup final

Coming back to the ODI World Cup 2025 final, after being asked to bat, India managed to score 298 for 7 in 50 overs. Ayabonga Khaka was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa, taking three wickets for 58 runs.

While chasing, Skipper Laura Wolvaardt anchored the innings with a century, and almost shifted the momentum of the game, but Deepti Sharma got rid of her and picked another wicket in the same over to dent South Africa's hopes to win the silverware. Deepti became the first Indian woman to take four wickets in a World Cup final and later completed her five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5 for 39.
