India defeated Pakistan by 88 runs in their Women's ODI World Cup 2025 clash in Colombo. After setting a target of 248, Indian bowlers delivered a disciplined performance to bowl out Pakistan for 159.

Batting first, India scored a competitive total of 247, with Harleen Deol anchoring the innings with a composed 46 off 65 balls. Richa Ghosh provided the late push with a quick 35 off 20 deliveries after the middle order failed to convert starts into big scores on a slow track.

India’s innings began with a toss mix-up, as the match referee mistakenly awarded the toss to Pakistan. Sent in to bat, India lost early wickets, with Smriti Mandhana scoring 23 before being bowled by Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana. Pratika Rawal gave India a brisk start with 31, hitting three fours in a row off Diana Baig.

In reply, Pakistan got off to a shaky start. Muneeba Ali was run out by Deepti Sharma, and Sadaf Shamas was caught and bowled by Kranti Gaud, leaving them at 20 for 2 in the eighth over.

Kranti Gaud struck again, removing Aliya Riaz and later dismissing Natalia Pervaiz for 33. Pervaiz had added a valuable 69-run partnership with Sidra Amin, who top-scored with 81 off 106 balls.

After Pervaiz’s dismissal, Pakistan lost wickets at regular intervals. Sidra was eventually dismissed by Sneh Rana, and the final pair of Nashra Sandhu (0) and Diana Baig (2) remained at the crease as India wrapped up the innings for 159.

Kranti Gaud finished with three wickets, while Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana took two apiece as India secured a convincing victory in the group stage encounter.
