Cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar promised India's Women's ODI World Cup 2025 semifinal hero Jemimah Rodrigues that he would love to sing a song with Jemimah on the guitar if the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side defeats South Africa in the final of the mega event, which will take place on November 02 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Sunil Gavaskar to sing with Jemimah Rodrigues
Jemimah played the inning of her life as India chased down a mammoth 338-run total to seal their berth for the title decider of the Women's ODI World Cup 2025. In the exclusive chat, Gavaskar promised Sports Today that if Jemimah is okay with it, then he will sing a song with Jemimah on the guitar if India wins the World Cup.
"If India win the World Cup, she and I, if she's okay with it, will sing a song together. She'll have her guitar, and I'll sing along," Gavaskar said on Sports Today. "We actually did that once at one of the BCCI awards a couple of years back. There was a band playing, and we just decided to join in. She was on the guitar, and I sang with my whatever voice I have. But if India win, I would love to do it again-if she is happy to do that, happy to do that with an old man. I am all for it."
India created history against Australia
Jemimah who got a poor start in the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 scoring 65 runs in four innings, including two ducks and was dropped for the match against England in the league stage, smashed 127* in 134 balls (with 14 boundaries) helped India chase down 339 runs which is the highest chase ever in women's ODI cricket and in the knockout matches across both men's and women's ODI World Cups.
