India's young speedster Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers for the Shubman Gill-led side in the third ODI against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. He rattled Australia's batting line-up with his four-wicket haul in the last ODI of the three-match series.
Harshit Rana's record
This was Harshit Rana's first-ever four-wicket haul in ODIs, and with this, he joined the elite list of Indian bowlers who have recorded the best figures at this venue. With figures of 4 for 39 against Australia in 2025, Rana now shares the spotlight with legends like Javagal Srinath, Madan Lal, and Umesh Yadav.
At the top of the list is Javagal Srinath, who delivered a brilliant spell of 4 for 30 against Australia back in 2000. Next is Madan Lal, who claimed 4 for 37 versus New Zealand in 1985, followed by Harshit Rana’s 4 for 39 against Australia this year. Umesh Yadav also finds a place in this list for his performance of 4 for 72 against Australia in 2015. Rana picked up Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Mitchell Owen and Josh Hazlewood's wicket in the third ODI.
India vs Australia third ODI
India bowled out Australia for 236 in 46.4 overs in the third and final ODI after the impressive effort from Harshit Rana and spinner Washington Sundar. Rana picked up four wickets, while Sundar took two.
Washington Sundar (2/44) dismissed Matthew Short (30 off 41 balls) and Matt Renshaw (56 off 58 balls) after Mohammed Siraj (1/24) and Axar Patel (1/18) set things up by removing the openers, Travis Head (29) and Mitchell Marsh (41).
Harshit Rana (4/39) continued to trouble the Australian batters, getting rid of Alex Carey (24) and Mitchell Owen (1) as Australia slipped to 198/6 in the 38th over and never managed to recover from there.
Earlier, India captain Shubman Gill made two changes to the playing XI, bringing in Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna in place of Arshdeep Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
