Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 scheduled to start from November 22.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir has faced a lot of heat since Rohit Sharma-led India lost a three-match series against New Zealand. The BlackCaps created history as they defeated India 3-0 in the three-match series. This is the first time any team has whitewashed India in a three-match series on their home soil.

After losing the Test series against New Zealand, Team India's chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship final depend on the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 results. The Men in Blue need to win 4-0 in the five-test match series to confirm their berth for the WTC final without depending on others. There are reports that if India fails to perform in Australia then the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will look for another red-ball coach.

According to a report in Dainik Jagran, if the Indian team fails in Australia too, the BCCI could ask a specialist like VVS Laxman to take up the coach's role in Test cricket while Gambhir would stay put only in ODIs and T20Is.
