India wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel's social media post sparked speculations about his chances of featuring in the first Test match which is scheduled to take place at The Optus Stadium in Perth from November 22. Jurel is the part of Rohit Sharma-led squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The wicketkeeper batter is currently in Australia and involved in practice sessions and match simulation. 

Jurel shared his photos on social media in Indian Jersey where he wrote:

"From setting alarms to catch India’s Tests in Australia to waking up alarm-free..." wrote Jurel. 

 

 

Jurel's social media post came into the limelight soon after the reports of Shubman Gill's injury claiming that he will miss the first Test match. Gill has fractured his thumb while fielding in the slips and he will feature in the second Test. Fans started reckoning that Jurel will be the potential replacement for India's young batter. 

Jurel has made debut during England's tour of India when Rishabh Pant was recovering from his injuries. He played three Test matches where he managed to score 190 runs with a highest score of 90. 

Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 schedule

The series opener between Australia and India is set to begin in Perth from November 22 to 26. Next, the teams will head to Adelaide Oval for the second Test, a Day/Night match scheduled for December 6 to 10. The third Test will take place at The Gabba in Brisbane, running from December 14 to 18. The fourth Test is scheduled at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30, and the series will wrap up with the fifth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7.
