Team India are currently in Australia for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 which is scheduled to start from November 22. India captain Rohit Sharma who was recently blessed with a baby boy will most likely to join the squad before the first Test. Apart from Rohit, India veteran speedster Mohammed Shami who made his cricketing comeback through Ranji Trophy 2024 will also travel alongside Rohit. 

As per Dainik Bhaskar, Rohit Sharma will leave for Australia before the first Test match and Mohammed Shami will also travel alongside Indian skipper. However, the veteran pacer will most likely to join the India squad for the second Test match.

Shami's Blast Against Bengal

Mohammad Shami returned to competitive cricket after 1 year and played for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2024 match against Madhya Pradesh. He made a brilliant comeback and devastated the batting order of Madhya Pradesh. The star fast bowler took four important wickets. He took important wickets of Shubham Sharma, Saransh Jain, Kumar Karthikeya and Kulwant Kejroliya. He achieved figures of 4/54 in 19 overs. He continued his form in the second innings as well and took three wickets. With the bat, Shami scored 37 runs off 36 balls in the second innings, which included 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 schedule

The series opener between Australia and India is set to begin in Perth from November 22 to 26. Next, the teams will head to Adelaide Oval for the second Test, a Day/Night match scheduled for December 6 to 10. The third Test will take place at The Gabba in Brisbane, running from December 14 to 18. The fourth Test is scheduled at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30, and the series will wrap up with the fifth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7.
